This Atlas robot hand can do almost anything! It’s the iHY hand (pronounced “eye-high”) developed by iRobot, Harvard, and Yale for the DARPA Robotic Challenge. It has 2 rubber-jointed fingers and a thumb that can pinch or grip or wrap around an object. The hand is strong, flexible, yet sensitive, using the proper pressure needed for a task.
The Atlas robot with these hands can open a jar, answer a telephone, palm a basketball or a lift a kettlebell.
